Creating Vitality Blog

How do we create lives that we love? What is vital to us? What is vital to you? What does it mean to be alive? In these posts I may ask more questions than anything else. Perhaps that is because for me, in part, life is about learning. What is life about for you? I am curious.

Who makes you laugh?

Who makes you laugh?

I had a great discussion yesterday about humor. We all know what a great feeling it is to laugh. It’s wonderful to be around someone who can make us laugh. They bring lightness. They invite joy. To make others laugh is also a joy. I think I enjoy that even more – to bring pleasure to another person. A New Park

I’ve been going for the best walks lately. Circles upon circles within circles. Around and around the Mapleleaf Reservoir, which was just recently “topped” with a big open park. Grass and trails now. It’s about a half-mile around, though there are offshoots from the paved path that can make it shorter or longer. It has become my new religion to walk around that park. Walking, reflecting, unwinding, realigning, settling, walking.  It can become a ceremony so easily. I think that’s what I like about it. I find myself feeling more present. The...

Kicking it all off…

I am so curious where this life will lead. I would never have been able to guess what my life would be like now 10 years ago, 20 years ago, 30 and 40 years ago. Helen Keller said, “Life is either a grand adventure, or nothing at all.” I agree. We are all on grand adventures; at least that is what I hope for you. These adventures don’t have to be about climbing mountains or sailing across the sea, in fact most of them are the internal adventures: trying to navigate our relationships, finding meaning in our work or daily...
